Staff and special guests attended a gala dinner in Nov 2018 to celebrate and farewell an icon in OFGS life and history, Mrs Rae Doak, who is retiring after an exemplary 50 year career in education.
Guests included overseas and interstate visitors, family members, current and ex-staff, Board members as well as a number of people from a range of schools and other community, education and service organisations with whom Mrs Doak has worked over the years.
A number of colleagues, past and present, made speeches and presentations to Mrs Doak, and there were also a number of messages read out from various educators and politicians, including local members and the State and Federal Ministers for Education, both of whom paid tribute to Mrs Doak for her contribution to education in our country.
